Memorial Day Weekend, 2015 is finally here and the weather could not be better. The Burns Real Estate Group/Keller Williams held an Open House at 735 Storrs Road, Mansfield, CT this past Saturday, the traffic was heavy and we hope to see even more buyers coming out as we go into June, 2015!
The home at 735 Storrs Road is charming with great details and comfort including custom cabinets built on site to blend with the original cabinetry and two of the bedrooms have their own private baths! the home is fully refinished and maintains it’s original Arts and Crafts/Sears Kit style details.
The Sears Roebuck mail-order company was founded in 1886, and most people know that Sears sold nearly everything for the home, but did you know it also sold the house as well? They started to offer building supplies and house plans in 1895. Between 1908 and 1940 Sears operated a “Modern Homes” division that supplied building plans, materials and kit houses shipped by rail to all corners of the nation. The homes are numbered, and very hard to document as all records were destroyed at one point. The current owner of this home has done some research, but he cannot find enough documentation to prove this is a “real” Sears Kit home – no matter, it is lovely and charming with features you will not find anywhere else – call to see this home or ask us to help you with another purchase and sale – we are always happy to be of service!
